IRISH INTERNATIONAL JULIE-ANN Russell scored her first goal in the Australian top-flight earlier today, her first-half effort turning out to be match-winner for Western Sydney Wanderers in their 1-0 Westfield W-League victory over Perth Glory.
Russell’s goal, which came on the brink of half time, ended a five-game winless run for her side and kept their final hopes alive after downing the league’s bottom-placed side.

But Federici s work wasn t done yet. The Bulls gloveman got to his feet and raced to meet the ball bouncing toward his goal line. A desperate leap hurled Federici into Kamau, who then fell into the net under pressure from Macarthur defender James Meredith.
Somehow, the ball remained untouched by the three players. Still finding its way toward the line, Federici quickly got to his feet to dive back into play, lunging to push the ball to the left of goal. Simon Cox arrived on the scene but his shot hit his own man, and Tate Russell collected the rebound only to hammer his shot off the bar.

The Wanderers turned in a poor first half at Campbelltown Stadium to be 1-0 down and on the back foot.
But a stirring second-half comeback was highlighted by an extraordinary goal from Graham Dorrans before Simon Cox ensured the visitors took home a share of the spoils.
Remarkably the Wanderers are yet to concede a goal from open play after six matches, with both of Macarthur s goals on Saturday evening coming from corners.
