An empty hairdresser s salon in north London has been revealed to have an extraordinary secret - the building seemingly dates from the Middle Ages.
The premises on Chipping Barnet High Street was bought by a family who were planning to turn it into a florist.
The building s original wooden structure was uncovered during refurbishment work, and analysis of the timbers dated them to the 14th Century.
Experts described it as a once-in-a-lifetime discovery .
Arianit Dobra, who bought the property with his daughter Elisana, said they found the interior walls were covered in plaster when they took over the building.

Ministers must go further than shelving a controversial housing target algorithm and ensure that planning systems are locally-led, MPs and campaigners have urged.
Robert Jenrick, the Housing Secretary, was applauded by Tory MPs in rural constituencies on Wednesday after he announced an overhaul of the formula for house building targets that will see more homes built in urban areas.
Former prime minister Theresa May was among senior Tories who had warned the computer-based formula first proposed in August would lead to swathes of southern England being “concreted over”.

The Ham&High was contacted in September by Gail Power, who suffers from muscular atrophy and an auto immune disease, requiring regular trips to the Royal Free Hospital.
Gail first received a parking fine through the post after a hospital visit in 2017. After that, she said she sought advice from hospital staff every time she parked, but still received fines.
After receiving another one this summer, she decided make her concerns public. ParkingEye has since cancelled that fine “as a gesture of goodwill”.
“I think it’s disgusting,” she said. “When you go through the online appeal process, they just dismiss you – and what if it’s an elderly person who can’t use a computer? You can’t get through to a human being.
