Covid-19: 80% of Sibu populace have registered for vaccination

SIBU (Bernama): About 80% of over 300,000 populace in Sibu Division have registered for the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme, the highest in Sarawak at the moment. Sibu Division Acting Resident, Wong Hee Sieng said the percentage included those who have registered manually and through the MySejahtera application. The record on MySejahtera up to now is about 50%. The number will increase soon after the data of those who registered manually have been keyed into the MySejahtera application, ” he told reporters at the launching of the second phase of the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme at the Sibu Indoor Stadium here on Monday (April 19). Wong, who is also the Sibu Division Disaster Management Committee (SDDMC) chairman, said the committee targeted 70% or 250,000 of the Sibu populace to receive the vaccine to achieve the herd immunity target.

Covid-19: Centenarian among first in Sibu to receive first dose of vaccine

SIBU: A 100-year-old man was among the first vaccinated here in the second phase of the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme which kicked off on Monday (April 19). A total of 924 people received their vaccine doses at the Sibu Indoor Stadium here, and all of them are senior citizens aged 75 and above or otherwise high risk – such as those with comorbidities. People with disabilities (OKU) were also included but none of them were among the 924 vaccinated. A total of 96 Health Ministry personnel were involved in the programme, including 20 who were administering the vaccine. Speaking when officiating the event, Sibu Divisional Disaster Management Committee coordinator Dr Annuar Rapaee said 140 health workers would also receive their first dose later in the day.
