40 Individuals fined for violating CMCO in Sibu cafe 08 Apr 2021 / 16:40 H. SIBU: Forty individuals were compounded between RM1,500 to RM10,000, after they were found at a cafe, in Jalan Adam here, beyond the permitted operating hours under Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) yesterday. Sibu district police chief ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said they comprised the cafe’s owner who was slapped with a RM10,000 compound, while eight workers and 31 customers, were fined RM1,500 each. He said in 10.45 pm inspection, carried out by a team of police and Sibu Municipal Council enforcement officers, all suspects were found at the premises beyond the permissible operating hours in breach of CMCO.

Covid-19: Sibu Central Market closure extended from Feb 20 to 28

SIBU: The Sibu Municipal Council will close the Central Market for another eight days from Feb 20 to 28. This is the second extension for the closure of the market. It was first closed from Feb 8 to 14 and later from Feb 14 to 19. Council chairman Clarence Ting said the decision was made following a directive from the Sibu divisional health officer under the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1998 in efforts to curb the spread of Covid-19. Ting called for the understanding and cooperation of all the operators at the Central Market to strictly abide by the temporary closure to keep everyone safe.
