District recoveries pegged at 881, higher than new cases

Pune district recorded 658 new
COVID-19 positive cases on Monday and maintained the status quo of fewer positive cases, when compared to the discharge of 881 recovered patients.
The total number of
COVID cases have been 10,56,894 so far. The district witnessed 12 deaths on Monday, taking the toll to 17,996 deaths, till now. Around 5,890 patients are under hospital isolation and 4,490 at home isolation, currently.
Within the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) limits, there were 150 new cases of the 4,084 samples tested. Recoveries were more as well at 249. The Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (
MPCB) regional office of
Pune on Monday issued a show-cause closure notice to the ready-mix concrete plant (RMC) near the Mamurdi Urban Forest Co-Operative Housing Society, following complaints from residents.
The order said the plant should be dismantled in a fortnight, otherwise the water and electricity supplies will be disconnected.
Locals claimed to have been suffering various health issues due to the RMC plant menace over the last seven months. MPCB sub-regional officer Nitin Shinde had earlier said that officials visited the society after detailed news coverage by this newspaper.

After several complaints from private school parents, the commissioner organised a meeting with the principles of the private schools in the PCMC jurisdiction. He instructed the school authorities not to send a representative, but said the attendance of the school principal was mandatory. There are 625 private schools in the twin towns.

PSU aims to manufacture medication for mild cases in next 3 months, reinvent its flagging status
India’s first public sector pharmaceutical company, Hindustan Antibiotics Ltd (HAL), is ready to perform its role in the pandemic. The Pimpri-based drug manufacturing unit, set up in 1954, will produce oral medication to tackle mild COVID-19 cases in the next three months. The ailing public sector undertaking (PSU) says it is on the road to recovery, and started two new plants on Friday.

The deputy CM further informed the second wave of COVID is not yet over and the curbs and exemptions are based on the positivity rate. In comparison to last week, the positivity rate in Pune city has increased to under 5.3 per cent from 4.6 per cent.
