Loma Puata, out walking her friend’s dog Iti, doesn’t think dogs off-leash would pose much risk to other Victoria Domain users.
Dogs will soon no longer be allowed to roam freely on a popular walking track that meanders out into the Marlborough Sounds. The most scenic parts of Picton’s Victoria Domain will, from August 1, be “on-leash”, with dog walkers wondering if the tighter restrictions are necessary. The move – part of the same bylaw that is opening up Blenheim’s CBD to dogs – is to protect mountainbikers and the biodiversity of the domain. But mountainbikers already have their own mountainbike tracks, and dogs are already banned from those regardless of on-leash or off-leash.
COLUMBIA - Traffic backups near Mill Creek Elementary School have been solved after summer school began Monday. Just even in one day there s been a huge improvement,  Russell Boulevard Elementary parent Jamie Blake said. I know that educators are working really hard to try to get people out there very quick. They re very conscious of what s going on and I m really grateful that they re working so hard for us. Â
Two roundabouts were constructed on Nifong Boulevard at Sinclair Street and Old Mill Creek last year.
According to the city of Columbia, the roundabouts were constructed to improve safety, reduce queue lengths and decrease travel times.Â
