KARACHI: The Prime Minister, Imran Khan, on Friday dissuaded Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s MPA Firdous Shamim Naqvi from submitting his resignation to the Speaker and the party and decided to allow the Rangers to play role to take control of dacoits operating in the province with impunity due to the failure of the police.
PM Khan chaired a meeting at the Prime Minister s House to review the political situation in Sindh, particularly complaints related to issues of the Sindh Assembly and the law and order situation. The prime minister told the former leader of the opposition in the Sindh Assembly not to resign from the assembly seat. KARACHI:Additional Inspector General Farhat Junejo, head of internal accountability bureau of Sindh Police, has been appointed as Inquiry Officer by Sindh Inspector General Mushtaq Mahar, to investigate recovery of big quantities of drugs from Jamshoro Police officials.
On July 18, 2021 (Sunday) six policemen of Jamshoro-based Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) were arrested in Clifton, Karachi along with the 76 kg of Charas found in the police mobile van they were travelling-in, by Pakistan Rangers, Sindh.
According to sources, Pakistan Rangers, Sindh acting on intelligence information made the arrest, recovered a huge quantity of drugs and handed over the suspects to Police Station Boat Basin for further legal proceedings. Sources of the Sindh government informed ‘The News’ that Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Shah directed IGP Mahar to conduct impartial investigations into the alleged involvement of Police official Sarwar Rahpoto, brother of MNA Sikandar Rahp

SHC bars Excise, Narcotics Dept from investigating drug cases

KARACHI: The Sindh Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Department has been restricted from registering, investigating, and prosecuting cases of narcotics in the light of orders of the Sindh High Court.
The Sindh High Court, after heairng a criminal appeal, declared on June 19, 2021 registration, investigation and prosecution by the Excise Police under the Anti-Narcotics Act as illegal, and ordered the department to hand over them to area police stations for further proceedings.
Following the court orders, the Director General Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control directed the directors of all divisional headquarters to hand over the record to the Sindh Police. He also barred them from registering any new case under the Act. Previously, the cases related to narcotics were being registered, subsequently investigated and prosecuted by the department by Sindh Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Dep
