Ismail asks PIA to quicken process of paying compensation to families of crash victims

Sindh Governor Imran Ismail has asked the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) to quicken the process of paying compensation to families of the victims of the air crash in Karachi last year.
“The inordinate delay in payment of compensation to the unfortunate heirs of the victims of the air crash is indeed a matter of great concern, as some of them may be in dire need of monetary support upon the loss of their breadwinners,” said the governor as he presiding over a follow-up meeting with family members of the victims of the plane crash at the Governor’s House on Saturday.

Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi chief Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman on Saturday demanded of the federal government to execute the transformation plan for the city instead of issuing mere statements and using delaying tactics.
In response to Sindh Governor Imran Ismail’s statement on Karachi projects, Rehman said Prime Minister Imran Khan announced a Rs1,100 billion package for Karachi seven months ago but no action had been taken in this regard. He said the infrastructure of the city was already in shambles and there was no proper system for cleanliness in the city.

PRCS elects new managing body

Islamabad: The new Managing Body of the Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) was unanimously elected at an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) held here at the National Headquarters on Wednesday.
Punjab Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar, Sindh Governor Imran Ismail and Gilgit-Baltistan Governor Raja Jalal Hussain Maqpoon virtually attended the EGM as presidents of respective provincial branches of PRCS.
Dr Irshad Muhammad, Asif Bajwa, Syed Hashim A Hassan, Dr Parvez Ghaffar Rajwani, Brig (r) Abdul Hadi and Brig (r) Dr Mowadat Hussain Rana were elected unopposed as new members of the PRCS Managing Body through show of hands for a period of two years. Safety precautions in the wake of Covid-19 pandemic were strictly observed during the meeting, which was held in line with the provisions of the constitution of PRCS after necessary permissions from the President’s Secretariat and as per past precedence.
UNODC Country representative calls on Sindh Governor
Country Representative of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) Dr. Jeremy Milsom called on Sindh Governor Imran Ismail at Governor House in Karachi.
They discussed issues of mutual interests and other matters on the occasion.
The Governor was informed about the UNODC efforts in detail, in which cooperation to give priority to COVID-19 was also included.
Sindh Governor said that the people were under economic, social and health effects of COVID-19.
He said Pakistan was working on a comprehensive policy to remove concerns pertaining to COVID-19.
UNODC Country Representative Dr. Jeremy Milsom lauded Pakistan’s efforts and success against crime and terrorism.
