State-owned Pakistan Petroleum (PPL) has started commercial production from its Benari gas field in the Shah Bandar block onshore Pakistan.
Production from the field is being processed at Mari Petroleum Company’s Sujawal gas processing facility from where it is introduced into Sui Southern Gas Company pipeline network. Utilising the Sujawal plant has enabled the early commercialisation of Benari’s gas.
Expected output from the onshore field is 9 million cubic feet per day of gas.

KARACHI: The Thar Coal Block-1 project, which is an important part of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), is making rapid progress despite all odds, a top official said on Monday.
At the office relocation ceremony of Sino Sindh Resources Private Limited (SSRL), Li Jigen, chief operating officer of SSRL, a subsidiary of Shanghai Electric, said that despite the Covid-19 pandemic and other obstacles, the mega project in Thar has picked up pace in recent times.
Tariq Shah, Sindh Energy Secretary, Meng Donghai, CEO of Thar Coal Block-1 Power Generation Co and Li Jigen, inaugurated SSRL’s new office at The Harbour Front. The Sindh government will launch a water scheme to provide tap water in different districts of Karachi, said Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Wednesday.
Addressing a delegation of Kuwait state-owned firm EnerTech at the Chief Minister’s House, he stated that he would welcome the company’s support in this venture. He added that the Sindh government had a comprehensive plan to boost the agriculture sector by installing solar tube wells and initiating cattle breeding for export. This would either be done with the private sector’s support or a Public Private Partnership (PPP).

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah urged a delegation of the Thar Coal Block-I Power Generation Company on Tuesday to provide employment to local people in the area and resettle the displaced families and said he would soon visit Thar and review the settlement plan.
Meeting a delegation headed by Meng Donghai, the chief executing officer of the Thar Coal Block-I Power Generation Company, the CM said the Thar Coal Block-I project involved the development of a 7.8 million tonnes per annum open pit coal mine and the installation of a 1.3 gigawatt ultra-supercritical coal-fired power plant.
