2 forest officials held by ACB in Andhra s Chittoor for accepting bribe ANI | Updated: May 09, 2021 09:29 IST Chittoor (Andhra Pradesh) [India], May 9 (ANI): Andhra Pradesh Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Saturday arrested two officers at the state Forest Development Corporation while allegedly taking bribes of Rs 1.5 lakhs at their office in Satyavedu town of Chittoor district. According to ACB DSP Janardan Naidu and Allabaksh, in order to issue a no-objection certificate to a contractor Mastanaiah, the officials demanded Rs 5 lakh bribe which was later adjusted to 4.5 lakh, and 1.5 lakh was being paid as the first installment of the bribe. AP Forest Development Corporation has recently held an e-tender for Eucalyptus trees. A contractor Mastanaiah has bought 14,000 tonnes of Eucalyptus trees for Rs 7 crores. YSRCP MP donates Rs 1 cr to AP s Punganur Assembly constituency for COVID-19 treatment ANI | Updated: May 07, 2021 11:06 IST Chittoor (Andhra Pradesh) [India], May 7 (ANI): YSR Congress Party from Rajampet PV Midhun Reddy donated Rs 1 crore from his fund to Chittoor s Punganur Assembly constituency for COVID-19 treatment. Reddy handed over the cheque to Chittoor District Collector M Hari Narayana on Thursday. COVID-19 second wave is causing huge trouble. Number of cases are increasing in Punganur Assembly constituency leading to an alarming situation. Andhra police arrests seven of gang of treasure-trove thieves, four still at large ANI | Updated: May 01, 2021 15:15 IST Chittoor (Andhra Pradesh) [India], May 1 (ANI): The Chittoor district police on Saturday arrested a gang of thieves who used to dig out temples for hidden treasures. The district police team, led by KV Palle Sub Inspector Rammohan, has recovered some equipment, eight mobile phones and two cars from the gang. According to Madanapalle Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Ravi Manohar Achary, the gang used to target ancient temples in the state and dig them out for hidden treasures. In a recent instance, they attacked the temple of Lord Malleswara near the Adavipalle project area on April 25. They destroyed the backside wall, entered the temple, displaced the idols and searched for treasure tropes, said the DSP.
