Art Gensler, Founder of World s Largest Design Firm, Dies at 85

Art Gensler, industry titan and
Interior Design Hall of Fame member, passed away May 10 at his home in Mill Valley, California, at age 85. During his 65-year career as an architect and an entrepreneur, he transformed what started out as a three-person practice in San Francisco into the world s largest design firm. Launching offices around the globe, he and Gensler the firm forever changed the profession by elevating the practice of interior design and inviting client collaboration.
Since opening its doors in 1965, Gensler has amassed an unwavering reputation of excellence stemming from its “one-firm firm” culture, which values “we” over “me,” stressing the importance of teamwork. Local musician Frank Meyer, known by most as the frontman for the veteran LA Punk outfit Streetwalkin’ Cheetahs, is playing a residency at the Good Bar south of Rose Park that promises a night of comedy, magic, music and mayhem.

The program celebrates outstanding talent across major areas of design such as architecture, interiors, product design, graphics and branding, student design, and more, unifying New York City s showcase of global design. Finalists for both Products and Projects are named in over 60 categories listed below.

Susan E. “Sue” (Thompson) Grossman, 67, wife of Robert H. “Bob” Grossman, Jersey Shore, passed away at home on Saturday, May 8, 2021.
Born in Akron, Ohio, on Dec. 19, 1953 she was the daughter of the late J. Frank Thompson and Elizabeth “Betty” J. (Bloom) Thompson of Jersey Shore.
Bob and Sue were wed on Sept. 23, 1972 and shared over 48 years of marriage together.
She was a member of Walnut Street Baptist Church, Avis.
Sue graduated from Lock Haven University with a Bachelor’s degree in elementary education and special education along with a Master’s degree in literature.
She was formerly employed by Keystone Central School District and Jersey Shore School District as a special education teacher. While employed with the Jersey Shore School District, she also taught 5th grade in the Avis and Nippenose Elementary schools.
