Pennsylvania will prioritize people 65 and older and others with certain conditions for covid-19 vaccination, though many providers say the supply of vaccine is so low they simply cannot begin vaccinating any more groups. Pa to offer vaccine to seniors, those with medical conditions

The challenge now is getting it. Thousands more now qualify in the first priority group for vaccine distribution, under new federal recommendations adopted by the state, said Cindy Findley, Pennsylvania Deputy Secretary of Health Promotion and Disease Prevention. However, in Bucks and Montgomery counties and across the state, vaccines and people to administer them are still in short supply. With the changes, 3.5 million Pennsylvanians now qualify, yet the state received 1 million doses of the vaccine so far, according to state figures. Those 65 and older  2.4 million Pennsylvanians  make up the largest category As of now, there is no one clinic, hospital or pharmacy where people can show up without an appointment to get a vaccine. Despite Tuesday s announcement expanding the pool of eligible recipients, the supply remains extremely limited and is not yet widely available for the general public.
