The greenery along the road leading to the recreation area in Kg Digot is unkempt and bits of rubbish have been thrown on the verge.
THE District Council is not responsible for maintaining the recreation area, including the shelters, along the riverside in Kg Digot as the property on which these structures are sited has yet to be handed over to the agency.
A Council spokesman said a check on its records revealed that the land on which the recreation area was situated was not public or government property.
“It is considered private land. Therefore, it falls on the owner to see to the upkeep of his/her property,” he said.

The “holes” in the drain are especially hazardous to the youngsters who use the neighbourhood playground.
CITY Hall will, from time to time, keep an eye on the condition of the concrete slabs placed over the drains in Taman Bukit Sepanggar.
A spokesman for the agency said its staff had been instructed to ensure that the drains were not exposed and the slabs covering these structures remained securely in place.
“Ratepayers should also alert us directly of any irregularities involving the drains so that action can be taken to deal with these problems as soon as possible,” he said.

City Hall and Health Dept staff being briefed prior to the joint inspection of the neighbourhood.
FIVE Kepayan rate-payers were compounded by City Hall during an operation carried out in Taman Ridgeview Phase 12 recently.
A City Hall spokesman said three motorists, whose vehicles had encroached on the housing roads, were found to have contravened the agency’s parking by laws.
He said a home-owner was also penalised for the haphazard disposal of garbage, including biscuit and oil tins, in the common area near his/ her home.

“Another individual was compounded for turning his/ her yard into a warehouse for spareparts and erecting illegal structures,” he said.

City Hall staff have a word with the proprietor about cleaning the garden waste from the road shoulder.
Two Kolombong proprietors have been instructed to remove the garden waste they threw on the road-shoulder outside their respective premises along Jalan Kilang.
A City Hall spokesman said the proprietors had pruned the trees outside their compound and dumped the cut branches at two separate sections of the verge.
“In one instance, the trimmings stretched for meters and encroached onto part of the stretch,” he said.

“The other pile had been left on the side of the road for so long that it had become an illegal garbage dump.

City Hall staff clearing up the bits of rubbish which have fallen near the bins.
City Hall hopes to provide rate-payers at some Inanam shophouses with new communal bins, following a complaint that these receptacles badly needed to be changed.
A spokesman for the agency’s Solid Waste Management Department (SWMD) said any bins which were no longer fit to be used would be replaced.
“This work will be carried out in stages. We are in the process of changing the bins in the central business district for Kota Kinabalu,” he said.
