Agonising wait in NRL star rape trial The agonising wait for all parties in the sex assault trial of Jack de Belin and his friend has continued after jury deliberations entered their second day.

The jury of eight men and four women retired to begin their deliberations about 10.15am on Monday morning. The trial held at Sydney s Downing Centre District Court is the second the men have faced over the allegations, after their first trial held in Wollongong last year was unable to be completed.

A Chinese tourist charged with manslaughter over the death of a Sydney beauty clinic owner will not face trial until next year.
Jie Shao, then aged 33, was working at the Medi Beauty Laser and Contour Clinic in inner-city Chippendale in August 2017 when she allegedly administered a local anaesthetic and breast fillers into Jean Huang.
The 35-year-old went into cardiac arrest and was immediately rushed to hospital in a critical condition where she died two days later.

Shao had arrived in Australia just days before the alleged botched procedure.

A detective investigating Jack de Belin s rape case willfully lied giving evidence in the NRL star s first trial, a jury has been told.
De Belin s lawyer David Campbell SC described the officer s conduct as a gross departure from his job by not taking any notes of the first 90- minute conversation he had with the woman making the allegations. You knew full well as a police officer, your obligation is to make a record of a complaint received from a citizen, Mr Campbell said on Monday.
