SINGAPORE - Part of the false ceiling near the entrance of Golden Mile Complex in Beach Road collapsed on Friday evening (April 23).
A large section of ceiling boards affixed to a wooden frame, nails exposed and other debris were seen strewn across a section of the stairs near the taxi stand, but no injuries were reported.
An eyewitness told Chinese-language daily Lianhe Wanbao that she had heard the sound of something breaking shortly before the ceiling area collapsed.

Ten men were taken to hospital after an accident involving a lorry in Upper Bukit Timah Road on Saturday morning.
The 35-year-old driver and nine passengers, understood to be foreign workers, were taken conscious to hospital, said the police.
The accident came four days after another lorry carrying foreign workers hit a stationary tipper truck on the Pan-Island Expressway. Two workers died in that incident and 15 were injured.

SINGAPORE: Ten men were taken to hospital after an accident involving a lorry along Upper Bukit Timah Road on Saturday (Apr 24) morning.
The 35-year-old lorry driver as well as nine passengers aged between 26 and 50 were conscious when taken to hospital, said police, adding that they were alerted to the accident at around 7.20am.

SINGAPORE - A fire broke out on the seventh storey at Block 557 Bedok North Street 3 on Saturday morning (April 24), said the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) in a Facebook post.
The SCDF said it was alerted to the fire at about 10.25am and rescued two people trapped on a ledge outside the kitchen.
It said they were quickly brought in to safety through the kitchen window and then taken to Singapore General Hospital for smoke inhalation.
SCDF added about 45 residents from the affected block were evacuated by the police as a precautionary measure.
