BestCities Global Alliance names new board appointments

BestCities said the new appointments bring a wealth of valuable experience and fresh global perspective to the board of the alliance – just in time as the industry steps into a new era of innovation and revitalization. Kit Lykketoft, Director of Conventions at Wonderful Copenhagen, will take over as Alliance Chair, Dr Edward Koh, Executive Director at the Singapore Exhibition and Convention Bureau, will be joining the board in a new role of Incoming Chair, which will be centred around Partnership development and future-proofing the Alliance.
BestCities appoints new Chair and board members
BestCities, the global alliance of business events destinations, has announced a series of new appointments to its board.
Kit Lykketoft, director of conventions at Wonderful Copenhagen, will take over as Alliance Chair, focusing on legacies and the added value of congresses and events.
Lykketoft has been the director of the Copenhagen convention bureau since 2017, where she works to attract international association conferences, meetings, and events to Copenhagen.
Dr Edward Koh, executive director at the Singapore Exhibition and Convention Bureau, will be joining the Board in a new role of Incoming chair, which will be centred around partnership development and future-proofing the alliance.

Positive signs regarding a quick recovery for the exhibition industry in 2021
UFI, the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry, has released the latest edition of its flagship Global Barometer research, which takes the pulse of the industry.
Results highlight the severe impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the exhibition industry worldwide, in 2020. There are also positive signs regarding a quick recovery in 2021.
Globally, between April and August 2020, more than half of all companies reported no activity. This situation changed from September, where the majority of companies declared some operations, at reduced levels for most. Looking ahead to 2021, the share of companies expecting a return to “normal” activity is expected to grow from 10% in January to 37% in June.
