As public school students renewed the work of reconciliation through unique projects this month, officials approved several new locally developed courses for fall, including those focusing on holistic learning, treaties and sovereignty within an Indigenous framework.
In its first meeting since the remains of 215 Indigenous children were found at a Kamloops residential school last month, trustees with the Calgary Board of Education held 215 seconds of silence and thanked staff for their work in the last few weeks helping students focus on healing.
