Before he died by an accidental overdose, Ryan Sidun had hopes and dreams ahead of him. The 28-year-old Sudburian aspired to someday become a pilot for a major commercial airline.

DENTON, Texas, January 12, 2021 – US Aviation Academy (USAA) welcomes their first class of student pilots from Pilot Flight Academy (PFA) in Norway. Fourteen Norwegian student pilots will be completing an extended Private Pilot curriculum that involves 45 hours of dual flight and 50 hours of solo flight.
USAA flight instructors are granted a special permit by the Norwegian Civil Air Authority (NCAA) and European Aviation Safety Administration (EASA) to teach a dual enrollment course. US Aviation’s Denton campus is an approved Aviation Training Organization (ATO) under PFA’s EASA certificate. In addition, PFA students have the option to complete a FAA Private Pilot certificate while earning credit hours towards their EASA certification. Upon completion of the course, the students will return to Norway to continue training in Instrument and Multi Engine curriculums.

CO (Conservation Officer) Jordan Anderson (Wadena) primarily spent time on fishing and trapping activity. Lakes continue to be busy with a mixed bag of success. With all the activity, a lot of garbage has been seen left on area lakes. Clean up after yourselves!
CO Randy Posner (Staples) worked on fishing enforcement this past week. The sunfish, crappies and bass have been the most productive for anglers on area lakes. He worked on snowmobiling enforcement issues this past week as well. Violations observed were no fishing license and expired registration on snowmobiles. Complaints of deer-carcass dumping on state land and litter on area lakes were received. He spent time inspecting aerators on area lakes.
A senior at Villa Maria Academy, Lia Ritchie is the president of Tech Club and is a member of the schoolâs Music Ministryâs leadership team. She is also the graphic designer for the schoolâs newspaper and is on the layout staff for Festival. Ritchie is a member of the National Honor Society, Math Honor Society, and Quill and Scroll Honor Society. She freelances art outside of school and has been commissioned for logos and custom emotes over the Internet. She created the cover for Festival last year; won first place in an art contest for the company Platinum Plumbing designing their company logo; made the Playbill covers for Villa Mariaâs Theatrical Production and Design class for four years as well as the designs for the schoolâs Reindeer Games event and freshman class Disney trip t-shirt. Ritchie has received both academic and charism scholarships for four years at Villa Maria, and has attained distinguished academic honors freshman through junior years. She
