ACME TOWNSHIP – A man in Acme Township is “trapped” on his property because of a backed up culvert that flooded from a recent storm. The flooding washed out the gravel in his driveway creating deep holes and preventing anyone from getting in or out.
Richard Mallery, the homeowner, says this happens every time it rains in his area of Grand Traverse County. His property, in particular, because of the way it sits on South Lautner Road.
“Think of Lautner Road as a dam,” says Mallery. “It rises ten feet, so that’s a ten foot lake on the other side and then it overflows over the top of the road and it just flows for hours down through here.”
