This car was derived from the Porsche 911 Type 930 Turbo and was massively successful during its tenure under the American father-and-son team of John Paul Senior and Junior. The JLP-2 was naturally preceded by the JLP-1, and the Paul family would continue to build more radical machines, culminating in the JLP-4. All of these cars proved massively successful, and some of their titles include the 1982 Daytona 24 Hours and the Sebring 12 Hours (in JBL-3 configuration).
After the 1979 racing season and the unfortunate demise of the JLP-1, the team decided to build the number two car. This vehicle saw improvements in chassis rigidity, and an increase in power up to 740 horsepower thanks to twin KKK turbochargers. The JLP-2 managed a class win, and a third overall finish at the 1980 Silverstone Six Hours; as well as a 9th overall and 2nd in class at the Le Mans 24 Hours.

Porsche Taycan Turbo S Sets The Road Atlanta Track Record For All EVs
The Taycan Turbo S didn t waste a second going around Road Atlanta and only took 1:33:88 to complete a hot lap.

What is it with Porsche and setting records all the time? It seems as if every time a new car comes out of Porsche’s GT department, it goes and shaves a second of its previous Nurburgring time. But EVs are one of Porsche’s biggest focuses for this coming decade, prompting them to once again sit atop the king’s hill at the racetrack.
The Taycan set off to Road Atlanta to do just that, but this isn’t the first time the Taycan has set a record in its short life. Just two weeks ago, Chris Harris and Porsche took a rear-drive Taycan to the Hockenheimring and set the EV continuous drift record. The Taycan assumably also has countless streetlight drag racing victories as well, if that counts for anything.

That s not to take anything away from the track itself or Porsche s achievement, but it does look as though the Germans are avoiding the more highly disputed tracks in the USA. Either that or, hopefully, this is just a warm-up for something like the Willow Springs or, even better, the Laguna Seca.
The Porsche Taycan Turbo S has been disputing the title of the quickest electric sedan with the Tesla Model S ever since it came out and, one year later, it looks like we finally have a definitive answer. But being quick in a straight line is one thing; being able to pull a quick lap time out on a circuit, completely another.
