A man carried out a âfrenzied attackâ on his parents and his elderly grandmother in their sleep, using knives, scissors, a cricket bat and dumbbells, a court has heard.
Jonathan Keal is accused of the attempted murders of Robert and Lynda Keal, as well as 90-year-old Marjorie Keal, at their home near Fordingbridge in the New Forest, Hampshire, on the night of September 26, 2018.

A man blamed the devil as he launched a frenzied attack on his parents and grandmother as they slept at home, a court has heard.
Jonathan Keal, 37, stabbed and beat Lynda and Robert Keal and Marjorie Blacker at their home in Sandleheath, Hampshire, Salisbury Crown Court heard.
He denies attempted murder and wounding with intent.
Shortly before the attack in September 2018, he stopped taking prescription medication, the jury heard.
Kerry Maylin, prosecuting, said the victims were all asleep when the frenzied attacks began at the property on Mayfield Road on the night of 26 September.

The 37-year-old, from Bristol, is also accused of wounding with intent against the three family members. Kerry Maylin, prosecuting, told Salisbury Crown Court that Keal had been staying with his parents after they became concerned about a deterioration in his mental health.
John Sillett, 54, faces three charges of rape, four counts of assault by penetration and two sexual assaults between 2015 and 2017 in Wiltshire, France and Spain.

But Recorder Adam Feest QC told Colt Hogg that it was “about as close run thing as it could be” that he wasn’t sending the 19-year-old to prison. Imposing a two year prison sentence suspended for two years, the judge said: “I make it absolutely clear I am going to reserve any breaches of this sentence to myself. “If you breach your sentence I will make it my business to find time to come back to resentence you. “If you and I meet again, unless you have the best excuse for a breach – one which, at the moment I can’t imagine you will find – you will find yourself going to prison.”
