You cannot pay rent with sculpture. If you’re number one in the world, you probably can. But if you’re the second? No.” Kanevsky figured out how he could make rent and make a name for himself in the world of design in the process. “Just by chance, someone asked me if I can make porcelain,” he says. “I never worked with porcelain, but I said I could. I started to teach myself, and eventually it led me to flowers, tableware, and other decorative objects.”

Housing Works 2021 Design on a Dime Benefit

LAND Non-profit organization Housing Works is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, which mean s its annual Design on a Dime benefit in New York City seeks to be one of the most exciting yet. The popular charity event is taking place on May 20-22 at Housing Works three retail locations across Manhattan: SoHo Thrifts, Gramercy Thrifts, and the Bookstore, as well as online for design enthusiasts to shop one-of-a-kind collections and vignettes designed and curated by the country s top talent at incredible discounts (anywhere from 50 to 80% off). In light of the organization s 30th anniversary, the event will partnership with Chairish to commemorate the milestone, featuring a special online sale of 30 chairs presented by 30 designers.
