HENDERSON, Ky. An uncertain economic situation was a factor for county officials as they brokered a new budget for the upcoming fiscal year.
During a recent workshop, the panel received a proposed 2021-2022 budget of $27.6 million, which is roughly $2 million less than the 2020-2021 budget. After consulting with each of the department heads and elected officials, we tried to work (a budget) that is both responsible and meets needs, said Henderson County Judge-Executive Brad Schneider. We wanted to give department heads the resources to increase salaries at their discretion and make key capital investments. I worked with department heads to gauge their desires for pay increases and any equipment they d be buying this year. We tried to work out a set amount for their departments, so that we could fix our costs and know how much we had to work with there, but they d also know how much they had to work with on their end . I think it went really well, he said.
