Padiham town centre road closure chaos next month

The diversions will be out in place on Burnley Road in Padiham between August 3 and August 27. Lancashire County Council contractors will be resurfacing the carriageway and improving the pavements and pedestrian facilities. The improvements are part of the multi-million pound North-West Burnley Growth Corridor scheme and complement the £14 million Padiham Townscape Heritage Initiative. Burnley Road will be shut to through traffic with three separate section closures planned.

New cycle superhighway scheme will introduce one-way systems in this Lancashire town Plans are progressing for a new Cycle Superhighway scheme which will improve facilities for people travelling to and from a town s train station. The Penwortham to Preston Cycle Superhighway scheme, proposes to introduce one-way systems and parallel crossings at a section of road between the Cop Lane junction and Preston Railway Station. Lancashire County Council is delivering this scheme to build on the success of the new bypass at John Horrocks Way, which provides a convenient alternative for through traffic and there is now significantly reduced congestion in Penwortham along Liverpool Road.
