Echols walks off in Gators series opener against Aggies

A special report from the UAA on the Florida Gators softball team: GAINESVILLE, Fla. – No. 4 Florida opened the series against Texas A&M in walk-off fashion as the team took game one, 5-3, Friday evening at Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium. The Gators (38-8, 17-5 SEC) etched their third comeback victory over the last four games via a walk-off, three-run home run from Charla Echols (2-for-4) in the bottom of the 7 th inning against the Aggies (31-18, 8-14 SEC). Down 3-2 heading into the final frame of play, Cheyenne Lindsey (1-for-2) drew a leadoff walk from starting pitcher Makinzy Herzog (12-5), which turned the lineup over to the top of the order. Hannah Adams (1-for-3) then followed with a walk to move Lindsey, the tying run, into scoring position.

The junior blasted a three-run home run to lift the Gators to victory over the Texas A&M Aggies 5-3 Friday and move Florida two wins away from a joint regular-season conference crown.

The Gators come off a unique series against Missouri. After a 2-1 victory in game one, UF lost 10-2 in the second game of the series.

Sitting with a full count of three balls and two strikes, the senior hammered the pitch by Laurin Krings. The ball skyrocketed over the fence to give the Gators a 1-0 lead the peak of their Saturday performance. The Gators softball team lost their edge against Missouri in a 10-2 mercy rule loss Saturday.

Gators take run-rule loss on the road to Tigers

May 1, 2021 COLUMBIA, Mo. – No. 15 Missouri evened the series with No. 3 Florida after a 10-2 (5 inning) decision at the Mizzou Softball Stadium Saturday afternoon. Hannah Adams put the Gators on the board in the top of the 1 st inning of play via her seventh home run of the season. Adams sent the 3-2 offering from Laurin Krings (8-2) over the left center field wall to give UF an early 1-0 lead. Missouri responded with four runs in the bottom of the 2 nd inning. The rally was started by a two-run home run from Emma Raabe that scored Cayla Kessinger to put the Tigers ahead 2-1. The lead was extended to 4-1 after a trio of consecutive singles from Kendyll Bailey, Alex Honnold and Brooke Wilmes.
