Welcome to This Day in
Yankees History. The New Year is upon us, and the winter hot stove continues to percolate. That being said, there has not been much movement on the Yankees’ front as of yet, so in the meantime let’s dig into the history books. These daily posts will highlight a handful of key moments in Yankees history on a given date, as well as recognize players born on the day. Hope you enjoy this trip down memory lane with us!

In an effort to finally earn the New York Highlanders some respectability, co-owner Frank Farrell negotiated a deal to bring aboard one of baseball’s highest-profile names as their new manager: Frank Chance. The Hall of Fame first baseman had been the Cubs’ player-manager during their dominant run from 1906-10 that saw them capture four NL pennants and two World Series titles. Many baseball books and websites show that the Cubs played under 4 names. Baseball-reference.com, for example, lists:
1876-1889: White Stockings
1903-2020: Cubs

“I have friends going to Sebastian and Vero, anywhere they can to get a vaccine,” said 76-year-old Carol DeLaster, added that she s headed to Broward County with her husband today to be vaccinated at Markham Park in Sunrise.

In the waning days of his administration, President Donald Trump is focusing his attention on pressing matters: ensuring that any new government buildings in the nation’s capital are “beautiful.”
The president has signed an executive order, “Promoting Beautiful Federal Civic Architecture,” that recommends federal buildings in Washington, D.C. be designed in a variety of traditional architectural styles Neoclassical, Georgian, Greek Revival and Gothic among them, according to WAMU.
It would also establish a Council on Improving Federal Civic Architecture, which would be tasked with ensuring that government buildings in D.C. are “beautiful and reflective of the dignity, enterprise, vigor, and stability of the American system of self-government.”
