Utica police looking for man accused in December homicide, police say

Charles Phillips is wanted for second-degree murder “in relation” to the murder of Jahzier Johnson, police said.
Johnson, of Utica, was found shot in the 1400 block of City Street shortly after midnight on Dec. 14, 2020, police said.
Officers were dispatched to City Street to investigate reports of a male shot. When they arrived, they found Johnson lying in the street suffering from gunshot wounds, police said.
Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police ask anyone with information about Johnson’s death or Phillips whereabouts contact the Utica police’s warrants unit at 315-690-1834.
Utica Police are asking for the public’s help in locating 25-year old Charles Phillips.
Phillips, who is on the UPD’s Ten Most Wanted list, has an outstanding warrant for second-degree murder in the December 2020 death of Jahzier Johnson.
Police say the weapon used in the crime has not been recovered.
Anyone with information on Phillips’ whereabouts is asked to contact the Utica Police Warrants Unit at (315) 690 1834.
