Nanette Smith will begin leading as the Washington Elementary School principal this summer. Smith is currently the preschool – third-grade principal at West Marshall Community Schools in State Center, IA. She will begin her new leadership role in the Charles City Community Schools on July 1. Her hometown is Britt, IA, where she grew up on the family farm with her parents, two brothers, and a sister. Her first teaching position was as a special education teacher in Kirksville, MO. She has also worked in Southeast Polk CSD in Pleasant Hill, IA, Greene County Middle School in Jefferson, IA, and Prairie Lakes Area Education Agency.
