JACKSONVILLE, Fla. The City of Jacksonville is set to reopen 26 of its public pools at full capacity during the holiday weekend.
While masks will not be required for guests, they are encouraged. Pool staff will also work to sanitize the common areas and encourage those in confined areas to socially distance, according to the city.

How appalling then to learn of the recent incident involving Jesse Evans, a homeless 34-year-old man in La Jolla who was tackled, punched and incarcerated by police officers.
An incident like this would not likely happen to my sons. Why? They happen to be White.
Hopefully, the investigation that has been launched will bring about some justice for Evans, the implementation of humane de-escalation law enforcement policies, the hiring of behavioral specialists who serve on mobile crisis response teams and some clean, public restrooms.
