London s Metropolitan Police has revealed its latest litter of police puppies, named in honour of slain Kiwi cop Matt Ratana.
Ratana, who was killed seven months ago by a suspect who smuggled a firearm into a cell, was a much-loved member of the Met and his death brought forth a wave of condolences in the UK and New Zealand.

Prince William has paid tribute to fallen Kiwi cop, Sergeant Matt Ratana.
During a visit to Croydon Custody Centre to meet with Ratana s colleagues, the Duke of Cambridge laid a wreath at a memorial bench in honour of the Met police officer, who was killed while on duty last year.
The 38-year-old royal appeared moved as he laid the flowers, bowing his head solemnly.
He also spoke privately with the late officer s partner Su Busby and met the force s first wellbeing dog, Dexter, who was deployed to comfort traumatised staff.

Sergeant Matt Ratana, 54, was fatally shot at Croydon Custody Centre in the early hours of September 25 as he prepared to search a handcuffed suspect. Commissioner Cressida Dick has visited the Met’s Dog Training Establishment at Keston to meet the “Ratana litter” alongside Sergeant Ratana’s partner Su Bushby, who chose their names in tribute to him. The German Shepherd puppies have now been allocated to handlers in order to start a 12-month training course to become fully licensed police dogs.
