Somerset West and Taunton Council approved a motion on Tuesday evening (December 15) calling on those planning public firework displays to give greater notice to their neighbours. The council will now write to the government, calling on ministers to bring in laws restricting the maximum noise levels of any firework sold to the public. Licensing officers will also carry out a campaign to educate and advise the public to take all the necessary precautions to protect animals during displays.
