Good news for fans of Ginny & Georgia: The Netflix dramedy enters its second season! The streaming service announced this with the publication of a greeting video for the series stars. Netflix keeps to itself how successful its in-house production actually is in numbers. But Ginny & Georgia urgently needs good press, as there has recently been a lot of criticism for allegedly tactless discussions about racism in the series. In addition, pop star Taylor Swift targeted the makers because she was angry about a sexist joke that specifically included her name (here the tweet). In addition, the general accusation that the story was a rip-off of Gilmore Girls.
SUCCESSFUL FIRST SEASON
Ginny and Georgia follows the relationship of young mom Georgia Miller and her fifteen year old awkward daughter Ginny Miller who grew up on the move. The first season released back in February and frequently appeared in Netflix’s top 10 most watched series.
Netflix revealed that the
Ginny and Georgia was watched by 52 million subscribers in its first 28 days of being released. The series made Netflix’s top 10 list in 87 countries worldwide, hitting the number one spot in 46 of those countries including the United States of America, Brazil, Australia and Kenya.

Ginny & Georgia ended its first season on a number of cliffhangers. Besides a multitude of romantic entanglements and a private detective lurking about, the final shot of the season saw 16-year-old Ginny [Antonia Gentry] leaving the small Massachusetts town of Wellsbury with her 9-year-old little brother on a motorcycle after discovering a number of devastating secrets about her mother, Georgia [Brianne Howey]. So fans of the YA series will likely be relieved to hear that Netflix is bringing back
G&G for a second season to resolve some of those storylines and no doubt, drum up some new ones.
