String of comedy gigs outdoor ampitheatre Comedy stars including Simon Amstell, Sara Pascoe, Milton Jones and Nish Kumar are to play a series of outdoor gigs in Suffolk this summer. Production company Show And Tell are  is programming four nights at the new 350-seat  Thorington Theatre being built in the woodland near Southwold. Others taking part in the Stand Up Under The Stars events from  July 15 to 18 include  Nina Conti, Phil Wang, Marcus Brigstocke, Shappi Khorsandi and  Lou Sanders, with two shows every night. Tom Searle, founder of Show And Tell, said, ‘We’re looking forward to safely welcoming the return of comedy with a live audience in this stunning outdoor amphitheatre,  under a beautiful canopy of trees and stars.’

Comedy Central orders a new female-led panel show : News 2021 : Chortle : The UK Comedy Guide

Following the success of Sara Pascoe s Guessable Comedy Central has commissioned a new female-led panel show in the latest attempt to rebalance the typically male-dominated genre. The broadcaster says that in Yesterday, Today & The Day Before, ‘a female-led panel of famous comedy faces will offer a fresh and unique take on all that’s happened in the world, poring over topical news, pop culture and funny anecdotes.’ Six hour-long episodes have been.commissioned from  Rumpus Media, whose other productions include The Misadventures Of Romesh Ranganathan, Joe Lycett’s Got Your Back and Rhod Gilbert’s Growing Pains. However, the presenter and panellists have not yet been announced.

A NEW festival set to bring some of the biggest names in UK stand-up comedy will be coming to Essex this summer. Essexfest is a comedy festival will take place in Promenade Park in Maldon later this year and will be headlined by Scottish comedian Frankie Boyle. The former Mock the Week panellist is known for his cynical and sometimes controversial humour. His most recent project was the four-part BBC Two series Frankie Boyle’s Tour of Scotland. The Bafta-nominated programme followed Frankie as he took four gigs across the country, piecing together his nation’s heritage through his visits and interviews.
