Rio Tinto springs US93¢ special dividend Save Share Rio Tinto 2020 underlying profit hits $US12.4b, pays record dividend Peter Ker Rio Tinto has blown analyst forecasts out of the water with the biggest dividend in its history after extraordinarily strong iron ore prices drove the miner to its biggest profit in nine years. The $US5.57 of total dividends in 2020 came as Rio reported an $US12.4 billion underlying profit for the year to December 31. Analysts measured by VUMA had expected Rio to pay total dividends for the year of $US4.80 per share on the back of an $US11.74 billion underlying profit. The payout was worth $US9 billion.

Portland Winter Light (non)Festival continues February 08 2021 Annual festival brightens cloudy Portland nights; it ll light things up Friday and Saturday, Feb. 12-13. The Portland Winter Light Festival had to evolve in its sixth year because of the COVID-19 pandemic and government safety restrictions. It s called the Portland Winter Light (non)Festival this year and includes a series of installations, video projections and more around Portland, in which spectators can be socially distanced. Photographer Diego Diaz visited many of the sites with lights last weekend and documented them with the accompanying photos. The largest concentration of installations are in downtown Portland, around Pioneer Courthouse Square. Around the city, lights will come on again this weekend, 6-10 p.m. Friday-Saturday, Feb. 12-13.
