If you have an Instagram account, you ve heard of Great Jones. The brand s kitschy product names their crown jewel product is a much-loved dutch oven called The Dutchess and bold aesthetic have helped turn even the most basic of kitchen items into exciting status purchases.
Though I d heard the hype, I had some doubts about paying a premium for trendy kitchenwares. But because I m a sucker for vibrant colors (. . . and compelling branding, let s be real), I sprang for the Holy Sheet Pan ($35) in the Blueberry colorway when Great Jones dropped a bakeware line in late 2020. Reader, I m pleased to report that it quickly became one of my favorite and most-used household items within days.

Who could have predicted what this year would bring? It s been a tough 365 days for everyone some more than others but one of the things that s brought joy to many of us is the opportunity to find our way back into the kitchen.
During this holiday season, I truly believe that one of the most thoughtful gifts is a cookbook that s been chosen based on the interests of the intended recipient, such as their big culinary dreams, their current eating patterns, their favorite flavors or the ways in which they want to grow in the New Year.

When it comes to baked goods, I am not a skilled decorator. That s a thing that I ve been slowly trying to change, especially during my increased at-home time during the pandemic. I took a virtual challah braiding workshop, I ve scoured YouTube for how-tos and spent a lot of time playing around (read as failing again and again ) with using piping tips to make buttercream look like a pot of succulents.
That said, as the holidays approach, I m still far from bakery-level precision, so I ve been on the lookout for kitchen accessories and ingredients that create beautiful baked goods without having to navigate fondant and frosting bags.

Get ready for the holidays no matter what they may bring with two new cake cookbooks and a cookie cookbook!
From the famed name in hospitality comes “Martha Stewart’s Cake Perfection.”
The book contains more than 100 recipes for cake, ranging from complex to simple snack cakes. There are also chapters on essential ingredients and tools as well as frosting techniques before the six chapters of cakes: Show Cakes, Layer Cakes, Everyday Cakes, Sheet Cakes, Cupcakes and Celebration Cakes.
Show Cakes include stunners like Faux-Stone Cake and Watercolor Cake, which something no mere mortal will probably ever achieve, but are pretty to look at in the book. Layer Cakes come back down to earth with Milk-and-Cookies Cake and Mint-Chocolate Icebox Cake. Everyday Cakes include favorites like Red Velvet Pound Cake and Lemon Olive-Oil Cake. Sheet Cakes too bring familiarity with Vanilla Sheet Cake with Citrus Cream Cheese Frosting and Spiced Snacking Cake. Cupc
