Jackson Avery is checking out of Grey Sloan Memorial.
“Grey’s Anatomy” star Jesse Williams is exiting the ABC medical drama later this month, leaving after more than a decade with the show, TheWrap has confirmed. His final episode will air on May 20.
“Jesse Williams is an extraordinary artist and activist. Watching his evolution these past 11 years both on screen and off has been a true gift,” showrunner Krista Vernoff said in a statement. “Jesse brings so much heart, such depth of care, and so much intelligence to his work. We will miss Jesse terribly and we will miss Jackson Avery played to perfection for so many years.”

Grey’s Anatomy led us to believe that “Look Up Child” was going to be
Japril: The Movie, Part 3. And Sarah Drew told TVLine that the episode provided a little bit of closure for Jackson and April. What we

Before he leaves, though, he has to check in with two towering figures from his past: ex-wife April Kepner (Sarah Drew), with former
Greyâs star Sarah Drew making her highly publicized return to the show, and estranged father Robert Avery, with Eric Roberts making a surprise reappearance on the ABC drama. (Jacksonâs conversations with April and Robert are artfully intercut in this episode, but weâll recap the episode chronologically, for clarityâs sake!)
Ultimately we learned that life just isn t always so tidy, she tells him. God s plan isn t always so easy to understand. But it looks like I m moving to Boston, so fingers crossed for new horizons.
Fans were understandably delighted to see Japril sharing scenes again (and possibly reuniting), one tweeting: Everyone knows April & Jackson belong together . Idc what y all say! I smiled thru all those April & Jackson flashbacks! another added, while a third suggested: Can April & Jackson get their own show? I would be obsessed .
