A fifth of people aged 45 and over in Thurrock have received two doses of a Covid-19 vaccine, figures reveal. NHS data shows 24,488 people had received both jabs by April 25 – 18% of those aged 16 and over, based on the latest population estimates from the Office for National Statistics. Of those to have received both jabs, 21,051 were aged 45 and over – 32% of the age group. It means 3,437 people aged between 16 and 44 have received both doses. The figures also show 75,460 people in Thurrock have received at least one jab – 56% of those aged 16 and over. It comes as the Government announced an extra 60 million doses of the Pfizer/BioNTech coronavirus jab have been secured for a booster vaccination programme in the autumn.

More than half of people in Thurrock have received their first dose of a Covid-19 vaccine, figures reveal. NHS data shows 74,130 people had received a vaccine jab by April 18 – 55% of those aged 16 and over, according to the latest population estimates from the Office for National Statistics. Of those vaccinated, 50,231 were aged 50 and over – 92% of the age group. It means 23,899 people aged between 16 to 49 have received a first dose of the vaccine. The data also reveals variation in coverage between different areas across Thurrock. The proportion of residents prioritised for vaccinations, such as those aged 50 and over, is one factor that could affect vaccine coverage.
