Colin Turkington to spearhead WSR entry - TouringCarTimes

Colin Turkington to spearhead WSR entry 2 months ago Colin Turkington will once again lead West Surrey Racing’s assault on the British Touring Car Championship after extending his time with the team into a 14th season. The Northern Irishman will be seeking to try and reclaim the championship crown that he lost to Ash Sutton last year, with the 38-year-old going for what would be a record-breaking fifth title. Turkington, who has 56 career wins to his name, currently sits level on four titles with Andy Rouse. News of Turkington’s new deal with the team comes at the same time as BMW UK continues to provide its support to the WSR for a fifth successive season, with the team once again running under the Team BMW banner.

And while the BTCC is upping its maximum level of success ballast back to its pre-2019 level of 75kg, WSR boss Dick Bennetts says that will pose no problem for the 330i M Sport. WSR confirm plans for three car return - TouringCarTimes

WSR confirm plans for three car return 4 months ago West Surrey Racing team boss Dick Bennetts has confirmed that the BMW squad will revert back to a three-car team for the 2021 British Touring Car Championship season. The team was forced to downsize to two cars for 2020 after Andrew Jordan was forced to stand down from his seat as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, with the former champion not replaced as WSR instead focused on the cars of Colin Turkington and Tom Oliphant. Turkington would end the season second in the championship standings behind Ash Sutton, but there was double success in the manufacturers’ and teams’ standings with hopes high of pushing for all three titles in 2021 when the third 330i M Sport returns to action in what will be WSR’s 40th anniversary season.
