NOBLESVILLE, Ind. – Appearing in the NCAA Golf Championship for the sixth time in program history, the Arkansas State men’s golf team played in moderate rain for much of the round and carded an opening round 297 (+9) for ninth place among 13 teams at the Noblesville Regional played at The Sagamore Club outside Indianapolis.
Light to moderate rainfall drenched the par-72, 7,173-yard Jack Nicklaus designed course that played an average of plus-6 per team. Fifth-ranked Texas tops the leaderboard after the first round with a 6-under par 282 followed by No. 18 Tennessee, No. 19 North Florida and No. 8 North Carolina each at 3-under par 285. No. 28 Louisville turned in an even-par 288 to rank fifth. UNC-Wilmington (+2), South Florida (+6) and UAB (+9) are just ahead of the Red Wolves while UT Martin (+11), No. 43 Duke (+17), Campbell (+19) and Loyola-Chicago (+21) round out the team leaderboard.

NOBLESVILLE, Ind. – Following a practice round Sunday at The Sagamore Club, the Arkansas State men’s golf team will tee off in the NCAA Noblesville Regional Monday beginning at 8:25 a.m. (CT) on the 10th tee.
Making its sixth all-time appearance in the NCAA Championships, A-State is one of 13 teams that will compete in the Noblesville Regional hosted by Ball State University. The second and third rounds tee off at 7:00 a.m. (CT) Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively, with the low five teams and the low individual not on those teams from each regional advancing to the finals at Grayhawk Golf Club May 28-June 2.
