Darlington pubs go to battle in memory of local legend Tony

TWO pubs have been battling it out for the honours in a tug of war competition organised in memory of a well-known member of the community. The event on Haughton Green, in Darlington, was held in memory of local legend Tony Diamond, who died in November last year. The popular 71-year-old, who ran a B&B at Brough House, loved singing in the pubs and clubs and also ran an ice cream business. He was a regular at the Grey Horse, in Haughton, which took on a team from the Highland Laddie in their bid to win the memorial trophy in Mr Diamond’s name.
