Health unit believes spike in COVID-19 case is due to family gatherings over the holidays

Getting together with family over Christmas is proving disastrous. According to Dr. Ian Arra, the Medical Officer of Health with the Grey Bruce Public Health Unit, over 50-percent of the new cases being reported are because of close-proximity transmission with people outside of your bubble. 18 new cases of COVID-19 have been reported in Grey Bruce on Thursday. 4 in West Grey, 3 each in Owen Sound and South Bruce, 2 each in Hanover, Blue Mountains, and Grey Highlands and 1 each in Chatsworth, Huron Kinloss and Kincardine. To date there have been 569 confirmed cases of COVID-19. There are currently 59 active cases and 9 probable cases.

The Grey Bruce Health Unit and the Town would like to emphasize that the three positive cases are isolated to one Town department and are from employees that do not regularly interact with members of the public.
