Asim Bajwa hails agreement for mobile phones manufacturing in Pakistan

Daily Times July 17, 2021 Chairman China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Authority Lt. Gen. (retd) Asim Saleem Bajwa Friday said numerous Chinese mobile phone manufacturing companies would set up their plants in Pakistan that would boost the country’s exports besides generating more jobs. Hailing the agreement signed between Samsung with Lucky Group to produce Samsung Mobile Phones in Pakistan, the Chairman said the facility would help expand the manufacturing base in the country. “This landmark development coupled with a number of upcoming Chinese Mobile phone manufacturing facilities in Pakistan will expand our manufacturing base, help boost exports and create more jobs,” he said in his tweet.

Samsung to produce phones in Pakistan Hammad Azhar says development came on back of success of DIRBS KARACHI: Samsung is all set to begin the manufacturing of its phones in Pakistan as Lucky Motor Corporation has entered into a joint venture with the smartphone giant for the local production of cellphones. Lucky Motor Corporation has entered into an agreement with Samsung Gulf Electronics to produce Samsung mobile phones at its automobile plant at Port Qasim, said a notice sent by Lucky Motor Corporation to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Friday. “I congratulate Lucky Group and Samsung on entering into a joint venture to manufacture smartphones in Pakistan,” said Minister of Energy Hammad Azhar in a tweet. “These positive developments are evidence of the success of DIRBS system that eliminated smuggling of phones, and then followed up by mobile manufacturing policy last year.”
