SAN AUGUSTINE COUNTY, Texas (KTRE) - New developments on the proposed waste disposal facility in San Augustine County. Hearings for the necessary permit to dispose of oil and gas waste begin Tuesday morning in Austin before the Texas Railroad Commission. They are scheduled for a three week period.

Combs notches wire-to-wire win at Rayburn

Bassmaster Elite Series competitor Keith Combs cruised to a wire-to-wire victory at the Sam Rayburn Reservoir Southwestern MLF Toyota Series, finishing with a three-day total of 63-03. He prevailed by an 8-10 margin over runner-up Josh Bensema and earned $36,764.
Combs said it was actually his first win of any kind on Sam Rayburn, which was surprising considering his Huntington, Texas address and his years as a top-level pro angler.
Ive finished 2nd and 3rd, but never won one. That was fun, I always wanted to.
Weighing 22-09 on day 1 and 29-11 on day 2, Combs staked himself to a lead of more than 17 pounds heading into the final day. After a weather delay at takeoff that lasted more than 2 hours, Combs was forced to scramble a bit Friday to make sure of the win.

SAN AUGUSTINE COUNTY, Texas (KTRE) - The San Augustine County game warden reports the angler who fell overboard on Sam Rayburn Lake during the MLF Series tournament has been identified.
Thursday at approximately 10:05 a.m., Pete Spencer Lammons Jr., 77, of Houston, fell overboard while fishing in the tournament on Sam Rayburn Reservoir near the San Augustine Park area.
Attempts were made to rescue Lammons by his fishing partner but were unsuccessful, according to warden Travis Fountain.
The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, (TPWD), reports Fountain, along with wardens Austin Cryer and Doug Williams, found Lammons by using side-scan sonar of Sam Rayburn Lake.

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. - Pete Lammons, the starting tight end on the New York Jets Super Bowl III championship team and a member of the University of Texas 1963 national champions, died Thursday in a boating accident in Texas, according to authorities. He was 77.
Lammons, an avid fisherman, fell overboard at the dock while preparing for a fishing tournament, according to a news release by Major League Fishing, which sponsored the MLF Toyota Series at Sam Rayburn Reservoir near Brookeland, Texas.
His body was recovered by vessels using sonar, but efforts to revive him were unsuccessful, according to MLF.
