NBA Teams That Need a Full Rebuild This Offseason

0 of 4 NBA fortunes can change overnight. Sometimes the stars align literally, in a two- or three-star conglomerate and an also-ran transforms into a top-flight title contender. That s the fun kind of basketball metamorphosis. Not to drag the room down, but that s not the type of restructuring we re here to discuss. Rather, we re focused on the other end of the spectrum: the rebuild. It s one of the most daunting and, if improperly handled, haunting challenges in all of sports. It s a public admission that what you re doing isn t working and the formula is broken beyond repair. For the following four teams, the 2021 offseason is the time to make that admission and get the ball rolling on an organizational overhaul.

Clippers Hoping Kawhi Leonard Stays Even If They Fail To Win NBA Title

Clippers Hoping Kawhi Leonard Stays Even If They Fail To Win NBA Title KEY POINTS Leonard could still jump ship if the Clippers are not careful This season holds lots of uncertainty for the Clips as the team is currently undermanned Kawhi Leonard’s contract with the Los Angeles Clippers is good up to the end of this NBA season, and most are wondering if he will leave the team. The two-time NBA champion could opt to check out offers that are likely to be pitched, but a report claims otherwise. Despite their struggles, the 29-year-old may stick with the Clippers after this season. This is with the understanding that no drama unfolds.

Kawhi expected to stay with Clippers but intrigued by Heat?

Originally posted on Game 7  |  By Charles Kruger  |  Last updated 4/7/21 Kawhi Leonard will almost certainly decline the $36 million player option he has available to him this offseason in favor of a bigger deal. When that happens, the Los Angeles Clippers will suddenly find themselves in a very precarious situation. In 2019, the franchise essentially staked its entire future on a Leonard-Paul George combo being the cornerstone of a championship run. Obviously that didn’t end up working out as planned, with the Clippers ultimately getting embarrassed by the Denver Nuggets in last year’s playoffs. Since then George has been dealing with persistent injuries that continue to get worse, and Leonard alone has been unable to carry L.A. past the third seed in the Western Conference.
