Graffiti artist Smug paints spectacular war god mural on Carlisle West Walls

A SPECTACULAR mural depicting a Celtic-Roman god of war has slowly been taking shape on Carlisle s West Walls. Last week world renown Aussie graffiti artist Smug, based in Glasgow, spent a number of days working on a modern imagining of the deity Belatucadros, on part of the former Peter Tyson electrical store. The ancient god was worshipped by lower rank Roman officers and the indigenous Celtic population of Cumberland back when England was a province of the Roman Empire. Smug is known for his photo realism and creating images using nothing but spray cans. The artist, otherwise known as Sam Bates, doesn t give interviews, however Ben Heslop from Carlisle s Landmark Street Art was on hand to offer an explanation.

Peggy Gordon s New Plymouth Rangers run of form continues

Rangers continued to press forward but couldn’t find an equaliser the team deserved. Matters were not helped when Reuben Warburton saw red for his second yellow card with 10 minutes left. Niall and Devan Leggett, Taku Warren and Tre de John were the pick of the Rangers players. A lack of strikers is the main problem and coach Andy Hamilton is looking to bring in a couple from the reserve team. Next weekend sees a return to action in the Federation Cup with a visit to Whanganui City. TARANAKI PREMIER LEAGUE Connor Oliver-Rose continued his magic in front of goal, netting after just three minutes.
