MLB rumors: What to make of the dueling reports regarding J T Realmuto and the Phillies

Free agent catcher J.T. Realmuto Just a week after a report from a national writer first suggested that the Phillies had an offer on the table for free agent catcher J.T. Realmuto, a local reporter has come out and refuted it, saying the team has not yet made an official offer.  According to NBC Sports Philadelphia s John Clark, the Phillies are playing the long game with the star catcher, who has reportedly been seeking the biggest contract at his position in MLB history (Joe Mauer s $23 million per year is the benchmark). The source said the Phillies have expressed interest in Realmuto, their star free agent, and have had conversations but no official offer has ever been made.

Phillies promote Sam Fuld to GM position | News, Sports, Jobs

Dec 24, 2020 PHILADELPHIA (AP) Sam Fuld went from interviewing to become Boston’s manager to general manager of the Philadelphia Phillies. Fuld was promoted to GM on Tuesday, filling the role previously held by Matt Klentak. The team also promoted Jorge Velandia to assistant general manager and Terry Ryan to special assistant to the general manager. Dave Dombrowski was hired to run baseball operations two weeks ago. Fuld was a finalist for the managerial position with the Red Sox before they hired Alex Cora. “The interview process with Boston was an enlightening one,” Fuld said. “It (helped) me in appreciating what a manager’s role is, especially a modern manager and putting myself in those shoes and understanding how information can be integrated in an easily digestible way for players.”

Super Sam Fuld is Now a GM, Ross Wishes He d Pushed Guys Sooner, and Other Cubs Bullets Social Navigation Super Sam Fuld is Now a GM, Ross Wishes He’d Pushed Guys Sooner, and Other Cubs Bullets Today is Festivus, and although I have plenty of grievances to air with how things have gone this year, I’ll just let it lie. I’m healthy. My family is healthy. I can be grateful enough for that. •   The Phillies wrapped up their GM search lickity split after bringing in Dave Dombrowski as the new president of baseball operations. They looked only at internal candidates, and it’s old friend Sam Fuld who gets the gig after spending some time in the front office. Previously, Fuld was considered a hot commodity in the the world of managerial searches, but instead he’ll become a general manager, which is obviously a considerably different role, and not one you see too many recently-former players jumping right into. Then again, increasingly, the way you like your front office and

Oakland A s news: Philadelphia Phillies name Sam Fuld as General Manager

Photo by Ralph Freso/Getty Images Good morning, Athletics Nation! The Oakland A’s appear to be keeping their front office intact for 2021, but not every MLB team is able to say the same thing this winter. Five clubs have hired new general managers since November, with the most recent coming Tuesday when the Philadelphia Phillies named Sam Fuld as their GM. Fuld played eight seasons in the majors as an outfielder for four teams, including two stints in Oakland spanning much of 2014 and all of 2015. Super Sam became a national fan favorite as a player, and has been a candidate for the manager position in various teams’ dugouts, including the Red Sox this winter.

Outside The Confines: Sam Fuld is the new Phillies GM

Outside The Confines: Sam Fuld is the new Phillies GM Share this story Aaron Doster-USA TODAY Sports Sam Fuld announced his retirement from baseball in November of 2017. He hadn’t played at the MLB level since 2015, and an injury following a strong 2016 spring training camp ended his season, and ultimately his baseball career. During his eight major league seasons he posted largely unimpressive numbers for four different teams which is not meant as a slight to Fuld, but a career wRC+ of 79 is not sending anyone to the Hall of Fame. Evidently, though, Sam made quite an impression on those around him, because immediately following his retirement, the Phillies hired him on a “player information coordinator” which basically meant his role was to help players and coaches with the integration of analytics into their play.
