Scouting Report: Colorado Rapids vs Real Salt Lake

Scouting Report: Colorado Rapids vs. Real Salt Lake Rocky Mountain Cup Comes Again Share this story Isaiah J. Downing-USA TODAY Sports Well, it is that time again, to get the Rocky Mountain Cup going again. First things first, Colorado comes in with a 7-3-3 record, and RSL has slipped to 4-5-4 after poor showings against the LA Galaxy and LAFC. For Colorado, there are some key things to look for as they come to Rio Tinto Stadium. First, they will be without a few players: Kellyn Acosta, Johnathan Lewis, and Sam Vines who are with the USMNT for the Gold Cup. Colorado retired Pablo Mastroeni on July 4th, and he is on the bench for RSL now as part of their technical staff, and of course Robin Fraser, Colorado’s head coach, started out on the bench for Real Salt Lake. Would it help if we traded Freddy Juarez and Pablo Mastroeni for Robin Fraser?? Just kidding.well.mostly just kidding.

USMNT shut down Canada; advance in Concacaf Gold Cup The USMNT heads to the knockout stage in Arlington, Texas, including Rapids’ Sam Vines and Kellyn Acosta. Share this story Photo by John Dorton/ISI Photos/Getty Images The U.S. Men National Team (USMNT) continued their winning ways in Concacaf Gold Cup Group play by defeating Team Canada 1-0 in sweltering Kansas City, Kansas. Forward Shaquell “Shaq” Moore scored his first career international goal just 20 seconds after kick-off and turned out to be the match’s only goal by the final whistle. Colorado Rapids midfielder Kellyn Acosta was in the mix as the quick goal developed in Children’s Mercy Park. Acosta took the ball off the boot of teammate Gianluca Busio and sent a swift pass out wide on the left side to a surging Sebastian Lletget. The team veteran whipped a low cross that zipped past forward Gyasi Zardes to Moore who struck the ball into the back of Canada’s net.
