Photo   -  Jeremy Dover and Michele Ong These young writers regularly attend youth camps and conventions, missions to rural and regional Australia and New Zealand, they are part of outreaches, they are engaged in highly specialised ministries and give of their time and expertise. These young writers are a cross section of the Australian / New Zealand Christian scene.  We did not go out with the intention of somehow selecting the most brilliant academics or the most outstanding philosophers or the most remarkable orators.  Rather the Lord has led to us this broad cross section of young people who represented the plethora of Christian youth insights – and it s as joy to behold. We now have 85 young people in the program covering Australia, New Zealand and a sprinkling of young people from overseas – US, Canada, England, West Indies, China, South Africa, Mozambique …. 

2021 young writer program kick-starts today

2021 sees new directions The major 2021 feature in these new directions sees the “18-30 years and Over 31s” in both the Kiwis and Internationals have become separate to Press Service International. Photo  -   Cartia Moore 2020 Aust young writer Basil Sellers Award  This means that after three years of Stand Alone for the 18-30 and Over 31s, Kiwis and Internationals, now they have taken responsibility for themselves. In both cases they have senior writers from their own ilk who serve as their editors. NZ senior writer Esther Koh is the editor of the Kiwi young writers  -  and  -  International senior writer Josh Robbie is the editor of the international young writers.

Date Time Community Spirit Bursary Students take centre stage Seven outstanding senior students have been recognised for their contributions to making the Western Downs an even better place to live and work as part of Council’s Community Spirit Bursary. Council’s annual Community Spirit Bursaries support hard working young people from across the region to kickstart their career. Council Spokesperson for Finance, Corporate Services and Business Strategy Councillor Ian Rasmussen said the Bursaries demonstrated Council’s support and pride in the region’s youth. “The Western Downs is full of outstanding young people and the Community Spirit Bursary Awards celebrate the year twelve students who go above and beyond both at school and in our community,” Cr Rasmussen said.
