Seven young talents have been nominated for January 2021 s Premier League 2 Player of the Month award.
The shortlist was selected by the Premier League s Football Development Panel after PL2 club coaches had nominated the best performance by an opponent in each of their league matches.
The Panel will also decide the winner, who will emulate Leeds United s Sam Greenwood, Manchester City duo Cole Palmer and Liam Delap, and Chelsea midfielder Lewis Bate in claiming a PL2 award in 2020/21.
PL2 player shortlist
The 17-year-old forward scored his first senior goal in Aston Villa s FA Cup tie against Liverpool on 8 January. He also netted four goals in two Division 2 matches, hitting the winner in a 2-1 defeat of West Bromwich Albion before scoring a hat-trick in Villa s 3-2 win at Norwich City.
This Sunday, the Kansas City Chiefs try to repeat as Super Bowl champions, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers attempt to win their first NFL title since 2003. Each team will have native Iowans on the field.
When Tampa Bay has the ball, Mt. Vernon, Iowa native Tristan Wirfs will be on the offensive line. The 22-year-old, who stands 6-foot 5-inches and weighs 320-pounds according to NFL.com, entered the NFL draft after his junior season at the University of Iowa. He was the 13th player selected in the 2020 draft.
Wirfs has had an incredible rookie season. According to PFF, he s allowed just one sack in nearly 1,300 snaps over the regular and postseason. He s also committed only four penalties this season. Wirfs wears #78.

If you re tired of long winter nights where darkness sets in before 5:30 pm, you ll probably be on board with a new bill introduced by State Representative Michele Hoitenga. The bill would permanently put Michigan on Daylight Saving Time.
The move would eliminate the semi-annual need to change clocks and would mean more daylight in the evening hours through the winter months.
Hoitenga, a Republican member of the Michigan House of Representatives, has introduced House Bill 4052 which would permanently put Michigan on Spring Forward time. Participation in year-round Daylight Saving Time would require legislators in Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, and Pennsylvania to pass similar measures.
