Michael Moynihan s only son, in the words of his father, can get pretty wound up. But he does a really good job of hiding it, said the elder Moynihan, a health care administrator in Boston.
Michael s son is Patrick Moynihan, the Devils prospect now in his sophomore season with Providence College who won a gold medal with the U.S. team at the World Junior. I was driving him to the airport before (the final selection camp) and he said Dad, I m nervous, recalls Michael Moynihan, he really wanted to make the World Junior team.

Team Canada captain Kirby Dach has suffered a wrist injury and will be sidelined for the remainder of the World Juniors, Sportsnet’s Sam Cosentino can confirm.
According to the Chicago Blackhawks, Dach’s NHL team, he will be returning to Chicago for for further evaluation.

During the 2020 World Junior Champinship, we saw breakthrough performances from several highly touted draft-eligible players, which ultimately cemented them as top prospects.
Out of the players who were selected among the top 12 selections, eight had participated in last winter’s tournament as under-aged players. Of those eight, everyone but top choice Alexis Lafrenière return this year for a second outing.
While the 2020 NHL Entry Draft was seen as a tremendous group of players, perhaps the best since the legendary draft class of 2003, the 2021 generation is considered to be weaker when it comes to top-end talent. This is something that is apparent on the 10 rosters arriving in Edmonton.
